265 Biddulph Park

With a hermit's cave to explore, and a scramble up to a lookout rock fit for smugglers this is a walk to delight the children, and most of the grown-ups too. Then, emerging from the trees you climb to the top of Troughstone Hill. It's quite a remarkable viewpoint high above the Cheshire plain where, on a clear day, you can even pick out the mountains of North Wales. Finally quiet paths and little lanes lead across the open hillside to finish at a pub. Combine the walk with a visit to the famous Biddulph Grange Garden, which has a splendid National Trust tearoom, for a memorable day out.
