363 Longstone Edge

Once covered in lead mines, with workings that go back to the 11th century, Longstone Edge is now spread with flowers. A wide expanse of heather crowns the moor and grassy depressions and hummocks are the only reminders of the past while milkwort, thyme and bird's-foot trefoil create a wealth of colour. Here is one of the finest display of rock-roses in the Peak District, while from the summit the view stretches from Matlock to the Dark Peak moors.
