404 Wolfhole Crag

With a pair of curlews circling overhead and glorious spring sunshine we set off across the moor to Wolfhole Crag. Until recently the Forest of Bowland was out of bounds to walkers, but the strong wind was as effective a deterrent as the old gamekeepers, for the fells were deserted. The descent proved contrastingly easy to a delightful waterfall and a good track above a dramatic ravine, where herring gulls and lesser black-backed gulls breed every Summer in their thousands.
