424 Fair Snape Fell

Saddle Fell, Wolf Fell and Fair Snape Fell, are magical names for lovers of the Bowland hills. Rising steeply from the Lancashire plain these heather-topped heights are all open access, so walkers can wander freely over the wind-swept summits. This is the haunt of curlew, golden plover, short-eared owl and red grouse, while above, turning lazily in the up-currents, a glider sweeps gracefully along the edge.
