431 Gib Torr

The striking prow of Gib Torr thrusting skywards on the moors above Gradbach is a well known landmark. But why Gib? Was it a resemblance to a ship's bow with a jib sail, or a link with a cat, or was there a gibbet here from which dangled the corpse of a luckless highwayman? No-one knows, but every walk should have an objective and Gib Torr is perfect with a view from the topmost rocks looking out on the wild moors.
