Tumbled rocks lie scattered on Cowpe Lowe high above Rawtenstall. This is get away from it all country, yet little over a century ago hundreds of men toiled here quarrying paving and building stone for towns all over England.
START: From Bury Rd turn up Lomas Lane, 350 yards south of Rawtenstall Station, and park near junction (there is no parking higher up Lomas Lane).
