870 High Bentham To Low Bentham

Bentham is in two parts, with both High and Low set beside the River Wenning. This might look a quiet backwater, but Bentham, whose name is pronounced sounding the h as in that, is world famous for fire hoses, an industry dating back to when they were woven from flax. Despite a forecast of thunderstorms later it was a beautiful sunny day as we strolled beside the river and stopped for lunch. On the other side a lady out for a training run headed energetically downstream. We resumed our walk and had progressed only a short way when she came past us. It certainly makes a lovely circuit, but you'll enjoy it more if you stop to look at the flowers.
