879 High Dale and Deep Dale

Flower by flower the Spring begins. Some years the flowers all come in a rush with High Dale banked with cowslips and Deep Dale too, while even the common dandelion looks magnificent when a golden carpet of them covers the fields. In the shade of the woods there are bluebells and violets and masses of ramsons with their white globe-like flowers and unmistakeable smell of garlic. We even found primroses, formerly a rarity in this part of the Peak.
