The delightful village of Ashover was once busy with lead mines, lime kilns, quarries, and water mills, also making shoes, baskets, lace and nails. It even had its own Hydro. It's a bit quieter now, but with three pubs and a tuck shop you are spoilt for choice.

START: From Matlock follow A632 for 3 miles. Turn left along Wirestone Lane then fork right, signed "Uppertown", to Eddlestow Lot car park.
